Director Peter Kaboth

Synopsis
The starting point is a nursery rhyme about a carefree community in which everything runs according to fixed rules. But this community gets out of hand as two dare to break out of the structures.

Director
Peter Kaboth was born in Wroclaw, Poland and studied animation at the Hochschule für Film & Fernsehen. His short films “the gonner” and “Fallen” have been selected for several International Festivals. He was nominated for the Cartoon d’Or and award at Anifest and CICAF among others.

Synopsis
This time the dream was about to make sense… During sleep and cornered by the lack of meaning a reluctant hedgehog creates a puzzle that can’t be solved. But even within the dream the hedgehog is neither able to let it go nor to solve it and stubbornly tries to make sense of the absurdity…

Director
Sois de Traca is the collaborative duo formed by animation filmmakers María Álvarez and Elisa Morais. They met while studying engineering and together gradually turned to hand-drawn animation and storytelling. In their films they strive to combine traditional disciplines and media with new technologies producing also media art, interactive and projection mapping installations.


The Music Box

Synopsis
This animated short film is based on a real story and sets in China during the Cultural Revolution in 1967. It is about a young boy Liang Liang, whose family is suddenly taken to the countryside by Red Guards. He is able to grab the only thing he treasures which is a western style music box, and is careful not to expose to the red guards.

Director
Joe Chang, a director, animator and artist. He studied at Lu-Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang, China and Tama Art University in Tokyo. The Chinese Violin (2000) was his first animated film with the National Film Board of Canada. His most recent animated short film is The Music Box (2018).


Purpleboy

Synopsis
Oscar is a child who sprouts in his parents’ garden. Nobody knows his biological sex but he claims the masculine gender. One day Oscar lives an extraordinary but painful adventure in an authoritarian and oppressive world. Will he manage to have the identity recognition he desires so much?

Director
Alexandre Siqueira was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 1999 he develops and collaborates in several animated films projects. In 2010 he finished the animation filmmaking course at la Poudrière school, where he directs “Journey to the Sunflowers Fields”. “Purpleboy” is his latest Animation.

John Wong. Macau Post-90s, with curly eyebrows. Passionate in 2D/3D animation, attempt to create video production through complex media. Produced a variety of independent animations and collaborate video productions, and had been participate in professional MV production.
